Presentation
From the founding of the Pyrenean Museum in 1920 in the “château fort” in Lourdes, Louis Le Bondidier, its curator, placed great emphasis on building up a document collection.
The documentation centre is dedicated to the French and Spanish Pyrenees and, today, provides a wealth of information on the natural and cultural history of the Pyrenees.
It contains ethnographic and “Pyreneist” documents focused on mountain practices and representations.
Alongside the library, Louis Le Bondidier and his successors have also put together a major iconographic collection (paintings, engravings, drawings, posters, maps and photographs) to illustrate the history of the Pyrenees.
